MILFORD – God’s Way Ministries wants to help people in the community as much as possible.
One of the ways they do this is through the Cars for Moms program. The cars that have been donated to God’s Way are in good condition and reliable.
The vehicle is tagged, registered, clean and has a full tank of gas when picked up. They are given away to single mothers, fathers or grandparents who need transportation for the children for which they are caring.
On Monday, Leslie Davis was given a new van from Roger and Carrie Wood of God’s Way Ministries with the help of the Milford School District.
The school district has been working with God’s Way to find the families.
Robert Croce, a school counselor at Lulu M. Ross Elementary School, and Lisa McQueen, a paraprofessional at the school, were in contact with God’s Way to find the perfect family for the donated vehicle.
“I was always looking for resources in the community that will help out,” said Mr. Croce. “We have a lot of students, a lot of families and God’s Way has offered a tremendous amount of book bags and school supplies and various things.”
He said he is thankful for what God’s Way has done to help those in the community and the Milford School District.
“They’ve always been willing to help saying, ‘If you need anything, let us know’ and they follow through and want to help,” said Mr. Croce. “It is just a huge blessing for us to have something so close willing to help out with the various things we need for students and families.”
Ms. Davis is the grandmother of three children in the school district. Each child is active in a variety of sports and other after-school activities.
Mr. Croce titled her as the “Super Grandma,” making sure the children are where they need to be and giving them support in their endeavors as she works night shift to provide for them.
“This is amazing,” said Ms. McQueen. “She is traveling everywhere with these kids.”
