Trap Pond State Park named best in Delaware for early fall foliage
By DOVER — While the temperatures might still be litigating the seasonal shift, the leaves are going to start to show their colors relatively soon, and the cypress trees in Trap Pond State Park, 33587 Bald Cypress Dr., turn earlier than most landing it the top spot in Delaware for leaf peeping.
Nationwide, however Trap Pond tops out at 32, and only one other place in the state, Brandywine Creek State Park, 41 Adams Dam Rd., made the cut on the 3,000-response survey by Gunther VW Coconut Creek, coming in at 68.
The top spot in the nation was the Great Smokey Mountains National Park in Tennessee, followed by Shenendoah National Park in Virginia and the Catskill Mountains in New York in third.
