Fire damages unoccupied home in Seaford

SEAFORD — A fire caused approximately $300,000 damage to an unoccupied home Monday.

Office of the State Fire Marshal spokesperson John Galaska said the incident, reported shortly after 1 p.m., occurred in the 400 block of Highland Drive.

The Seaford Volunteer Fire Department and Sussex County paramedics arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the single-family dwelling. Mutual-aid fire companies also assisted.

Mr. Galaska said the cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday evening.
