GEORGETOWN — A 34-year-old Georgetown woman died from injuries suffered when her vehicle was struck at an intersection Thursday, Delaware State Police said.
According to authorities the woman was driving a Honda Civic on Shortly Road approaching Bull Pine Road that collided with a Volvo VHD truck at approximately 7:40 a.m. Police said the Honda failed to stop at a stop sign prior to the crash.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her name is being withheld until her family and relatives are notified.
The front passenger of the Honda, a 29-year-old Georgetown woman, was airlifted to an area trauma hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition.
Police said the driver of the Volvo, a 59-year-old Millsboro man, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately 6.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
