Perdue Farms, Harry K Foundation, Food Bank of Delaware partner to deliver meals

Posted

As part of its Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors outreach, Perdue Farms joined the Harry K Foundation and the Food Bank of Delaware to help distribute meals to 764 food insecure children and families ahead of the Easter holiday.

The meals included a whole bird chicken roaster donated by Perdue.

Volunteers from Perdue, the food bank, and Harry K Foundation, whose mission is to eliminate childhood hunger in the First State, helped load the food boxes and chicken into vehicles from various Delaware schools that picked up the boxes at the food bank’s new Milford facility.

Meal boxes were also distributed from the food bank’s Newark facility.

The effort is part of Perdue’s Delivering Hope outreach focused on improving quality of life and building strong communities where its associates live and work.

“It takes all of us working together to meet the needs of our children,” said Cathy Kanefsky, president and CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware.

“We are grateful that both the Harry K Foundation and Perdue Farms recognize the importance of feeding our future. Kids who are hungry cannot learn, grow, or play. Thanks to these programs, we can provide our children with the nutrition they need to be kids.”

“Hunger does not take a break, and we know for too many Delaware children it’s a daily struggle,” said Bill See, senior manager of community relations for Perdue Farms. “At Perdue, we are proud to join our friends at the Food Bank of Delaware and the Harry K Foundation to deliver a little hope to our neighbors.”
