Seaford pastor charged with child pornography counts

SEAFORD — A Seaford pastor has been arrested and charged with 10 felony counts of dealing in child pornography, Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings announced Friday.

James R. Dryden, 74, was arrested Feb. 15 following an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation led by the Delaware Department of Justice and Delaware State Police.

According the announcement, the investigation was spurred by multiple CyberTips generated by Microsoft warning that Mr. Dryden’s IP address had accessed and downloaded child sexual abuse material.

Upon receiving the CyberTips, Delaware State Police detectives and investigators from the Department of Justice contacted Mr. Dryden at his home and, following a forensic examination of his personal devices, discovered additional child sexual abuse material, authorities said.

Mr. Dryden has been a children’s pastor with Stein Highway Church of God for more than 20 years, according to the announcement. He is not charged with contacting a child, AG Jennings said, and investigators are not aware of any victims affiliated with the church.

Mr. Dryden was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $500,000 cash bail.
