Pat hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, having graduated from Hempfield High School. He’s worked for Bay To Bay News for the past five years. With a flair for the artistic, he plays bass guitar, and he enjoys reading and collecting art. Years ago, he worked as a staff photographer at a large commercial/industrial photography studio in Philly and was hired to photograph Johnny Cash in an industrial film, shot in Delaware. Today, he volunteers with the Milford Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Milford Inc. and is a member of the Delaware American Legion, Post 3, plus the Delaware Blues Society.

Karla has been with Bay To Bay News for 10 years. Originally from Magnolia, Delaware, she graduated from Caesar Rodney High School. She is the mother of a 16-year-old son who recently received his driver’s license, which might explain why her signature phrase is “One day at a time.”

Craig Anderson primarily covers police, crime and court news for the Delaware State News and BaytoBayNews.com. He has worked at newspapers in Delaware and Maryland since 1989, following graduation from the University of Kansas. He  joined the Delaware State News staff in 2011.

As Delaware managing editor for the State News at BaytoBayNews.com, Logan B. Anderson leads our team of reporters. Prior to his move to the managing editor role,  he served as an editor and writer for business and enterprise content. He first joined INI in 2004 working to the weekly papers. He eventually worked his way up to the Delaware State News covering the General Assembly. Next, he went to Dorchester County, Md. to lead the Dorchester Banner. He was called back to the Delaware weeklies as their managing editor. In 2015, he took on a new reporting adventure on the West Coast. 

Roxanne has been with Bay To Bay News for nearly four years. She resides in Hurlock, Maryland, where she’s a member of Grace Baptist Church. A graduate of Col. Richardson High School, her favorite saying is “You can never have too many dogs!”

Barbara has been with Bay To Bay News for 40 years and counting. Born in Savannah, Georgia, she attended military base schools and graduated from the Dover Air Force Base High School (before it closed, and they started sending students to Caesar Rodney). She’s a missionary at her church who enjoys reading, listening to music, football and playing cards, especially Spades. Her favorite phrase is “How you like me now?”

Richard is the managing editor for the Salisbury Independent. He moved to Delmarva from the coast of South Carolina where he was a journalist with the Georgetown Times, the Post and Courier in Myrtle Beach and the News in Kingstree. He is a graduate of Arizona State University.

Born and raised in Cambridge, Maryland, Dave now covers his home turf for work. He’s been with Bay To Bay News for over 11 years. Heavily involved with the community, he has been a Cambridge City Councilmember; member of Dorchester Chamber of Commerce; a Cambridge Rotarian; board member and past president Care and Share Fund Inc.; member of the Open Bible Church; and volunteer for IRONMAN Maryland Triathlon and numerous civic and church events. He enjoys traveling with his wife, Cindy, hiking, camping, target shooting, relaxing by the pool and cheering for the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. He is a graduate of Cambridge High School and Chesapeake College, plus a grandfather of at least 16, and counting!

Jess is one of the newest team members and brings years of experience. She volunteers for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and her hobbies include hiking, biking and thrift shopping. Originally from Bradford, Massachusetts, she took a leap of faith in attending Bethany (W.Va.) College, 11 hours from home, having never visited the campus before. Her go-to saying is “Quality over quantity.”

Heather is a marketing expert with more than 40 years of experience in retail sales, public relations/customer service, marketing, visual merchandising, social media and special events. Prior to her media career, she worked in a variety of retail businesses — small, single-owner boutiques to large department stores — from Oklahoma to New York City. Heather has a BA in Journalism & Mass Communication from the University of Oklahoma and has won numerous awards from the Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association. When not working on her “to-do list,” you will find her wandering the Delaware beaches in search of the next perfect seashell.

Richard Crumbacker has been covering news in Somerset County for nearly 30 years, first with the Somerset Herald in 1985 and after 12 years there and following other pursuits he has been with the Crisfield-Somerset County Times since 2006. Born and raised in Salisbury he has lived in Somerset County most of his adult life.

Nancy joined Bay to Bay News in 2023 but has worked in the newspaper/media industry for over 41 years (not including papergirl years). Born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she started out working for The Scranton Times (Times Shamrock Communications) in the circulation department and over the span of 30 years transferred to the production department and held various administrative positions before being promoted to Assistant Plant Manager of the production facility.  A 2006 move to Maryland was the transition to an Account Executive selling Commercial Printing, still with The Scranton Times by working remotely from home in Chestertown, Maryland until 2012 when she joined APG Media of Chesapeake as an Advertising Account Executive.  She is an avid Penn State football fan, enjoys reading, peanut butter, ice cream, bacon and thrifting.

Debbie has made her mark on Bay To Bay News for the past 44-plus years. Originally from New Smyrna Beach, Florida, she grew up in Dover, Delaware, and attended Caesar Rodney School District. Interestingly, when she visited the opposite side of the United States, a single trip to Alaska included her first experience on an airplane, train and cruise ship — all within two weeks.

Joe Edelen

Joe Edelen is a staff reporter for the Delaware State News, covering state politics and education. Born and raised in New Castle County, he began his career with the Delaware State News in 2022. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in communications and journalism in 2021. At the university, he covered Blue Hens’ football, men’s and women’s basketball, and other sports for the student newspaper and radio station.

Cyndi has been with Bay To Bay News for nearly 40 years. Her family is from Ohio, but with an Air Force dad, Cyndi has lived in many states and Canada. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, and at age 18, she and her best friend drove cross-country to live in Hollywood, Calif. Today, she loves to read, cook and spend quality time with family and friends. “Be the change that you wish to see in the world,” is her favorite quote, from Mahatma Gandhi.

Lena Ellwanger is a copy editor and page designer for the Dorchester Banner, Salisbury Independent and Delaware State News and BaytoBayNews.com. She has held various editing, writing and design roles for daily, weekly, and monthly papers, as well as special sections, for more than 15 years. Lena began working for Independent News Media in 2021. She has also lived and worked in Maryland and Georgia.

Hailing from Chestertown, Maryland, Joy has been with Bay To Bay News for about five years total (in two separate stints). Her hobbies are, first and foremost, spending time with her two daughters, visiting amusement parks with her grandson, rearranging furniture and going to the beach. In her younger years, she also loved boating, 4-wheeling, water skiing and snow skiing. In addition to serving local chambers of commerce, she has volunteered with Relay for Life, Special Olympics and the Humane Society. Interestingly, she is afraid of elevators and has walked as many as 17 flights of stairs in order to avoid them.

Mike Finney is a news/features reporter for the Delaware State News and BaytoBayNews.com. He covers the city of Dover news and writes insightful feature stories on interesting people in and around the state capital. His newspaper career, which includes 30 years as a sportswriter,  began in 1985. He has worked for the Delaware State News, News Journal and the Dover Post. Finney and his wife, Marybeth, have two children, Sean and Erin.

Brian has been serving Maryland and Delaware communities as a reporter and editor since 2002, with breaks here and there for fatherhood, his own small online video game store and to try out federal contracting. He joins Bay to Bay News to continue his career of community and issue focused journalism, starting with the Sussex County Council.

Sharon started working for the Delaware State News on March 6, 1969, which means she’s reached her own Golden Jubilee with the company. Born and raised in Delaware, she attended Felton School and graduated in 1968 in the Top 4 of her class. Today she enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles, watching TV and reading. Interestingly, Sharon was raised on a farm but certainly didn’t appreciate all the chores. “Now when I look back on it, those were some of the best days of my life.”

Hailing from Delaware, Angi earned a BA in public relations from Ursuline College in Ohio. Now, she has over 23 years with the company. She enjoys knitting and reading, but interestingly, she is unable to wear watches: “They stop on my wrist in a couple of hours and will never work again. My father had the same trait.” Her favorite quote is “Coffee doesn’t ask silly questions, coffee understands.”

Craig Horleman covers the local entertainment scene for the Delaware State News and BaytoBayNews.com, from the celebrity acts at the local casinos to the local artists and artisans of Downstate to the vibrant scene at the Delaware beaches. A native of the First State, he graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in journalism and has lived in all three counties at one time or another. A New Castle Countian by birth, he has been a Kent Countian by choice for more than 20 years. He has assumed various roles over his 25-year-plus career with the Delaware State News and its related publications and BaytoBayNews.com.

Jenny hails from Delaware and has been with the company for at least 23 years. Her favorite movie is “Grease,” favorite book is “The Cabin,” and she enjoys antiquing and spending time with family and friends. Jenny’s favorite line comes from the Bible, Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Yvonne Kirksey has been with Delaware State News since 2009 when she came on board as a Customer Service Specialist. She now shares her time with Customer Service and the newsroom. She collects calendar information for the Delaware State News, its sister monthly publications and BaytoBayNews.com. Yvonne and her husband, Don, live in Smyrna where they have created a backyard habitat to support local wildlife. Backyard birdwatching is one of their daily activities. She and her husband are passionate about cooking, and they love to feed the people in their life.

Cathy has been with Bay To Bay News for about a decade, and she’s been immersed in the community for much longer. Volunteerism began by age 11, so she’s now a Life Member of Sharptown Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and a new member of Westside Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She also represents Maryland State Fire Association as chairperson for Lower Eastern Shore Junior Miss Fire Prevention. Originally from Sharptown, then Riverton and now Nanticoke, Cathy graduated from Mardela High School and loves decorating cut-out cookies for all occasions. “Things always happen for a reason,” she advises. “One day at a time!”

Konrad has been in and around newspapers ever since he can remember, following his dad, Darel LaPrade, into the business. His experience spans markets of all sizes, including Dover, Salisbury, Easton, Baltimore, Greenville, Charlotte and Albany. In college he briefly wrote for the college paper, but after falling in love with his editor, he decided that he’d stick to sales. Throughout his career, he’s focused not only on the importance of local business but also on the importance of local journalism. In his spare time, you can find him spending time with his greatest sale, his college editor and now wife or playing with his 4 kids. Konrad also loves cigars, black coffee and Kentucky bourbon.

A digital artist and designer, Tom has worked in the advertising field for the last 10-plus years. Five years after graduating from Salisbury University with a BFA in Graphic Design, he was named Designer of the Year by the Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association, and he has won many awards for his work in print advertising, magazine design and digital platforms. Tom prides himself on taking a personal and artistic approach to clients’ needs. He launched the quarterly magazine, Bay to the Beach, shortly after starting here, as a passion project to celebrate what makes our region so unique. If you don’t find Tom sketching at his desk, you might want to check the beach or the pool. He enjoys fitness, video games, table-top games and illustration.

Originally from Philadelphia, Debra has lived and worked in her adopted home, Dorchester County, Maryland, since 1995. After contributing features and occasional news stories to the Banner on a regular basis, she’s recently joined Bay to Bay News as a Banner reporter. A proud mom and former librarian, Debra continues her lifelong love affair with baseball, history, nature walks, and hearing people’s stories.

Kitt Parker is the web and social media editor for BaytoBayNews.com. Kitt returned to the company after more than 8 years. During her hiatus she completed her graduate degree and taught at Delaware Technical Community College in the Communications Department. Kitt was born and raised in Sussex County and currently resides in Milton.

Tonda boasts a nearly 40-year career in advertising. She has owned and operated a full-service public relations and advertising agency. She also has worked in television and magazine sales. During the past two decades, Tonda has served in a variety of leadership roles at Bay To Bay News, including a nine-year stint as national accounts manager. When she’s not working or volunteering her time, you’ll find Tonda in her garden, which is affectionately referred to as Shortwood —as in, NOT the famous Longwood Gardens!

Karen has been with the company for 10 years, living in Crisfield after a childhood in rural Pennsylvania (Amish country), and then upstate New York. She studied children’s literature and early education, and when she writes to her favorite authors, she loves receiving letters in return (including Terry Goodkind, 3 pages, handwritten). Bill Watterson is her favorite cartoonist and author. Karen is a Disaster Relief Training Leader; a board member for Crisfield Chamber of Commerce, and Somerset County Library; member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and Crisfield Book Club; and artist/volunteer with Crisfield Arts and Entertainment and Somerset County Arts Council. Although this Renaissance woman “could have been a great many things” (like Jo from “Little Women”), Karen’s favorite quote comes from her father, Olin Brown: “The only thing you have control of in life is your attitude.”

Daily State News' reporter for the greater Dover area, Ben began his news writing career at CoastTV in Milton. He has had a lifelong interest in writing of all forms, including creative writing and screenwriting. Stories about the environment and expanding infrastructure are most interesting to him, but he is always fascinated by the different places that stories tend to bring him. As a massive board game enthusiast, Ben can be found trying to convince his friends to play a game he probably spent too much money on.

Allan Ryder is a copy editor at the Delaware State News and BaytoBayNews.com. Originally from Pennsylvania, he is an alumnus of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in journalism. He joined the organization in 2003, after moving to the First State.

DJ has been with the company for the past few years, making pages look good. A native of North Carolina, he enjoys drawing, painting, video games and guitar, and although his last name is ‘Short,’ he stands at an impressive 6’5”. DJ studied graphic design at The Art Institute of Charlotte and history at Belmont Abbey College. His favorite movie quote is “We better not risk another frontal assault — that rabbit’s dynamite!” (King Arthur, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”

Sheri Sussman is a paginator for the Delaware State News and sister monthly publications and the Airlifter. She has worked for the company for 42 years. Sheri started out in the mailroom to pay for tuition to Delaware Technical where she studied computer programming.

Marketing is Marty’s passion. It this continuously evolving field, he takes pride in constantly learning about cutting edge techniques and platforms. With an MBA from University of Delaware, his marketing career covers more than 20 years. He has worked for various media companies in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania, owned his own website business, and conducted digital sales training in markets all over the country. When not immersed in all things digital, Marty can be found tailgating at a sporting event, volunteering at Easterseals events or traveling and spending time with his wife.

Elle Wood is a reporter for the Daily State News. She is from Harrington, DE where she has lived her entire life. In December of 2023, Elle graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in communications. While at Salisbury, she was on the Women's Field Hockey team. Elle enjoys watching sports or reading a good book.
