CAMBRIDGE – "Carole Gemeny Scott: For the Love of Art and Family" is a tribute exhibition to the late artist Scott.

Scott was a multimedia artist who mostly enjoyed painting flowers, landscapes, and still life in watercolor, but also displayed talent in pencil/charcoal and other mediums. For many years she was a student of Barbara Zuehlke’s Intermediate Watercolor class at the Dorchester Center for the Arts, which was her second home and family.

Scott left a legacy which inspired many of her family members to explore their creative side. Through this exhibit, her children Doug, Beth, and Kevin, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and close friends, take us on a journey through a lifetime of Carole Gemeny Scott's love of art, from her high school years to just days before her passing in August of 2023.

This exhibit will run March 1-30. The Second Saturday Reception will be held on March 9, from 5-7 p.m., featuring live music, light refreshments, and family fellowship. All are welcome.

Additional March activities include Fiber Fridays, weekly from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Artists are invited to bring whatever project they are working on, from knitting to rug hooking to needlepoint, and enjoy the time with like-minded others. All are welcome. Advanced needle artist Windy Karpavage facilitates the group. Ongoing Fridays. Free. No registration needed.

Marianne Kost will be leading a one-day watercolor workshop on March 9, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Instruction focuses on journaling with pen and watercolor wash. Students can work from their travel or memorabilia photos. The workshop will also feature urban sketching with instruction on perspective for architectural components.

Winter Wednesdays Open Art continues weekly through March, 6-8 p.m. Materials provided. Free, all are welcome. Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Open Dance is held Thursdays 6-9 p.m., come out and dance - no partner needed, and Open Mic is on Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. Bring your instrument and join the lineup!
