Caring Hearts Helping Hands receives donations for two programs

MAGNOLIA — Caring Hearts Helping Hands, Inc., a non-profit organization, received a $4000 grant from the Milford Lions Club from its Eunice S. Reed Fund.

Through the Reed Fund, the Milford Lion Club partners with individuals and organizations in advancing their service projects which will in turn benefit the community. The Milford Lion’s grant will help fund CHHH’s annual Heart & Sole program.

With the school year starting soon, the Heart & Sole program is seeking donated back-to-school supplies for the book bags. Donations are due by Aug. 3.

CHHH will purchase the bags and gift cards for children shoes in quantity at tremendous discounts, as well as needed supplies. Kent County 4-H Link and CHHH volunteers will stuff the estimated 200-250 bags before the client mid-August pick up dates.

Caring Hearts Helping Hands, Inc. also received a $1000 donation from Highmark BCBSD BluePrints for the Community Small Grants for its Christmas program.

In previous years, the program provided 300 client children with bags of new clothes, toys and books. CHHH has 120 client families with school age children living in Kent County. CHHH is staffed entirely by 20 volunteers. The community donates household items, new or gently-used clothes and footwear, linens, books, toys, small appliances, furniture, personal and cleaning items so clients can come in monthly to shop at no cost to them.

The general public can help raise funds by shopping at Redner’s Warehouse, using their reward card and sending the receipts to CHHH, PO Box 415, Camden, DE, 19934 or by shopping at AmazonSmile and designating CHHH as the charity. If you contribute to United Way, designate CHHH as a recipient by using code #12803.  Call CHHH 698-1900 for more information to volunteer or donate.
