African heritage music celebration slated for June 27

MILTON — Taylor Music Studios, celebrating June as Black Music Month, will hold a summer fundraiser for the Bryan Allen Stevenson School of Excellence.

BASSE, an emerging public school in Sussex County, will be a service-learning secondary school, beginning with grades nine and 10 and eventually adding grades 11 and 12.

The event, a gospel concert and lunch, is planned for June 27 from 2-5 p.m. It will be held at Sydney’s Restaurant & Lounge, 16388 Samuel Paynter Blvd., Milton.

Dr. Tony Allen, president of Delaware State University, will be the keynote speaker. The event will also feature presentations from Bryan A. Stevenson and Dr. Howard C. Stevenson.
