CAMBRIDGE – The Dorchester County Public Schools Board of Education announced last week that as part of the process to select the next superintendent of schools, there will be a series of Community Visioning Sessions to engage and discuss the current and future needs for the district.

The superintendent search process is designed to engage all district stakeholders, including parents, teachers, administrators, staff, students, and community residents, in developing a shared vision for our future leader. The goal is to select a superintendent who embodies the values of the community and is dedicated to fostering a culture of collaboration, student achievement, and creating the conditions for success for every individual connected with our school system.

Community Vision Session 1 was held April 9 at North Dorchester High School.

The remaining dates and locations of the meetings are:

April 9, 6-7:30 p.m.

  • Community Vision Session 2

Cambridge South Dorchester High School - Library

April 17, 6-7:30 p.m.

  • Community Vision Session 3

South Dorchester K-8 School - Cafeteria

April 23, 6-7:30 p.m.

As previously announced, DCPS has partnered with HYA Associates to help coordinate its search. HYA will assist the Board of Education by facilitating the process of recruiting, vetting and recommending qualified candidates for comprehensive and inclusive search.

The Board of Education invites the engagement and participation of all members of the community. For more information about the superintendent search process, visit the DCPS website or contact Chris Wheedleton at 202-805-3696 or wheedletonc@dcpsmd.org.
