Dorchester’s top teacher finalists are announced

CAMBRIDGE – Dorchester County Public Schools last week announced the finalists for the selection of Teacher of the Year and First Class Teacher of the Year for the 2024-25 school year. DCPS Teacher of the Year is part of the Maryland Teacher of the Year program and the winner of the county crown will go on to compete on the state level.

The First Class Teacher of the Year recognition is specific to Dorchester County, honoring a first-year certificated teacher with exceptional promise. The winner of each title will be announced at a reception to be held March 26.

Elementary Schools

Emma Brant, 3rd grade teacher, Choptank Elementary School

Jennifer Filopovic, Kindergarten teacher, Hurlock Elementary School

Katelyn Robinson, Pre-K teacher, Maple Elementary School

Christy Starling, Pre-K3 teacher, Sandy Hill Elementary School

Christie Carels, 4th grade teacher, South Dorchester School

Heather Rhinehart, 2nd grade teacher, Warwick Elementary School

Colleen Carney, Social Studies teacher, Cambridge-South Dorchester High School
