Happy Women's History Month from your Dorchester County Public Library

CAMBRIDGE – Before we get to sharing our exciting upcoming events schedule with you, we would like to make you aware of some slight changes to our hours of operation at the Cambridge Branch. Beginning on March 4, our hours will be Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

We would love if you joined us for our upcoming events at both of our branches. See our schedule of events below.

Happenings at both Cambridge and Hurlock libraries:

  • Craft To-Go: Beaded Dragonfly Craft - Stop in to pick up a free craft to-go craft kit containing all you need to create your own unique beaded dragonfly you can use to decorate your desk, purse, or backpack. Colors will vary. Available while supplies last. (For all ages)
  • Storytime - Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Catch the storytime fun with your kiddos every week at either our Cambridge or Hurlock branch every week! (For ages 0 to 6)

Happenings at the Cambridge Library:

  • Anime Club - Every Wednesday afternoon at 4pm Cambridge Meeting Room - Meet up with fellow anime lovers weekly for games, episodes, and so much more! (For ages 13+) 
  • Second Saturday Story Time on March 9 at 10:30 a.m. - Come out to the library for a special Saturday Story Time and stay for the amazing Friends of the Library Booksale, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (For ages 0 to 6)
  • Stitch & Knit March 11 at 3 p.m. Cambridge Meeting Room - Calling all crafters: Bring your knitting needles or crochet hooks and come craft with us! Don't have a project? Small weaving looms will be available for you to try. (Adult program)
  • Local Author Visit from Caroline Ailanthus March 15 at 1 p.m. Cambridge Meeting Room - Join us for a special visit from an author who lives locally on the Eastern Shore! Local eco-conscious writer, Caroline Ailanthus, blends her love of science and story in her novels, "To Give a Rose and "Ecological Memory." Join us as she reads an excerpt from her latest book, "Bifurcation Events." Copies of her books will be available for purchase as well. (Adult program)
  • Origami Workshop also on March 15 at 4 p.m. in the Cambridge Meeting Room - Bring a friend and join us as we learn and practice the ancient art of paper folding called origami. Instructions, origami paper, and light refreshments will be provided. Attend to win a special prize during this event. The raffle will be conducted at the end of the workshop. (Recommended for adults, home school families also welcome!)

Happenings at the Hurlock Library:

  • Stitch & Knit Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Hurlock - Calling all crafters: Bring your knitting needles or crochet hooks and come craft with us! Don't have a project? Small weaving looms, crochet hooks, and knitting needles will be available for you to try! Light refreshments will be available. (Adult program)
  • Recycled Flower Drop-in Craft from March 4-14 - Stop by the Hurlock branch to create your own unique recycled flower decor. (For all ages)
  • Native Bee Talk with Master Gardeners, March 14from 3:30-5 p.m. -  Join us in the Old Library Building as Master Gardeners discuss the essential role of native bees in our environment. (For all ages)
  • Cut & Paste Rabbit Drop-in Craft from March 18-28 - Stop by the Hurlock branch to create a cut and paste rabbit craft. (For all ages)
  • STEM Night on March 21 at 5:30 p.m. - Experience the excitement of STEM at the Hurlock Public Library! Our STEM Night Program has hands-on activities, demos, and presentations on science, technology, engineering, and math. (For all ages)

Did you know that the week of March 3-9 is Return Borrowed Books Week? It's a weeklong holiday to remind us all to look through our things for any library books that need to be returned. We would like to take this time to remind you that Dorchester County Public Library is fine-free and that you can return library materials at any time via our outdoor book drop boxes located outside our doors.
