DAGSBORO – Downstate legislators Rep. Ron Gray and Sen. Gerald Hocker will host a public forum on Wednesday, May 1 focusing on the issue of offshore wind proposals being considered.

The meeting will run from 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Indian River High School, 29772 Armory Road, Dagsboro.

In December, Gov. John Carney announced his administration is starting formal negotiations with US Wind regarding its two planned offshore wind projects, MarWin and Momentum Wind. The projects entail the installation of up to 121 turbines.

The negotiations are to include a lease at Delaware Seashore State Park that will allow US Wind to bring an underground transmission cable ashore, linking the wind farm turbines to the regional power grid.

At the May 1 meeting, presentations are expected from the following entities:

  • Representatives from US Wind.
  • Representatives from the Governor's Office.
  • Representatives from the Caesar Rodney Institute Center for Energy & Environment.

The meeting will feature information from each participant, followed by a question-and-answer period.
