Ryan Truex finds a way to win Dover Xfinity race in OT

DOVER — Dover Motor Speedway usually seems to be a pretty good place to race for the Truex family.

Once again this afternoon there was a Truex celebrating in Victory Lane on the Monster Mile.

This time it was Ryan Truex hoisting the trophy after winning the caution-filled NASCAR Xfinity BetRivers 200.

With the race in double overtime after some late-run cautions, Truex took control to post his second Xfinity win on Monster Mile. The last two laps were the only ones he led all day.

“I can’t believe it,” Truex said after exiting his car. “Our car was just good at the end when it mattered. I was so loose all day.

“I’m out of breath from that. I think I held my breath those last two laps. ... I just can’t believe it.”

Carson Kvapil was the tough-luck second-place finisher in the event, which ended up going 208 laps. Light rain was also an issure during the afternoon

Kvapil lost the lead on the second restart in overtime.

“I thought we had a pretty good restart on the one before,” he said. “I don’t know, it stinks right? I really don’t even know what to say.

“I think we had a really fast (car) here. ... I’m happy that I had a shot at winning the race there.”

Anthony Alfredo won the final $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus of the year after Jesse Love, Riley Herbst and Ryan Sieg all endured wrecked or troubled machines.

“We came in knowing we were the underdog,” Alfredo said, who finished ninth overall. “We don’t have any technical support. No team alliance. We’ve been punching above our weight. You don’t understand how small our budget is compared to these other teams.

“This is crazy to win the Dash 4 Cash and to come out with a top 10 in a place like Dover is a big deal.”

Justin Allgaier won Stage 1 while Cole Custer captured Stage 2.
