Are you an active senior who enjoys fun activities and is looking for resources and information to enhance your lifestyle? Thrive Salisbury – Senior Life After 55 throws open the doors to spring on Friday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Free and open to the public, this event offers older adults an array of activities to try, plus a selection of personalized services, resources and demonstrations. The Thrive open house includes vendors, exhibitors, food, entertainment and giveaways, presented by Salisbury Independent/ BayToBayNews.com in partnership with Lakeside at Mallard Landing.

“We are so pleased to return to Lakeside at Mallard Landing for our Thrive event this spring. The setting and venue are just beautiful,” said Heather Cregar, Salisbury Independent’s director of marketing and promotions.

“Plus, we have plenty of fun and interesting activities going on and a great list of vendors and exhibitors to visit. I know our guests are going to find this event helpful to reach their goals of continuing to lead an active life.”

Vendors and exhibits range from home services and healthcare to local professionals and nonprofits that both help the community—and could make for great volunteerism projects, for seniors ready for a new project.

Guests can enjoy a laid-back atmosphere to ask questions and learn more about businesses and community organizations.

Local groups will give hands-on demonstrations to help make life easier. Throughout the day will be computer demonstrations by Wicomico Public Library, plus “Get Hip Don’t Slip” by Powerback Rehabilitation To You. Amanda Fooks will demonstrate chair stretching at 10 a.m. Lakeside at Mallard Landing will give neighborhood tours throughout the day.

Entertainment includes morning harp music by Kara Russell, afternoon music with DJ Chuckie, and crowd-pleasing Bingo with prizes at 2 p.m.

Plus, the crowd always looks forward to tremendous door prizes and gift baskets provided by all the vendors. Breakfast coffee and pastries will be complimentary, thanks to sponsor BrightStar Care. Lunchtime sandwiches and chips will be complimentary, thanks to the Deli at Pecan Square.

Older adults also enjoy the atmosphere of camaraderie with others who have had similar life experiences, whether raising children, welcoming grandkids, and prioritizing health, hobbies or volunteerism.

Event sponsors who make this possible are Coastal Bath Co./Bath Planet of Delmarva, ClearCaptions, Holloway Funeral Home and the Law Office of Marianna Batie.

Lakeside at Mallard Landing is located at 1109 South Schumaker Drive, Salisbury, Md. Parking is free and located near the main building.

Visit www.DelmarvaEvents.net for a full schedule, vendors list and more information. The “Thrive Salisbury” program book will be in the Tuesday, March 5, edition of the Salisbury Independent and also online at BaytoBayNews.com/Wicomico/SpecialSections.
