WASHINGTON — The president and first lady won’t be the only Delaware representatives at this year’s White House Easter Egg Roll.

Sophia Clayton of Dover, known professionally as DJ Sophia Rocks, will perform at Monday’s event at the South Lawn and Ellipse.

In 2022 at the age of 14, Sophia became the youngest act to perform at the Firefly Music Festival in Dover.

She has also been performing and partnering with the NBA’s New York Knicks for four seasons. Last year, she made her debut at her first NBA playoff game when the Knicks played Miami in the first round of the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals.

She has also been associated with many celebrities, performing for their private events which have included Jamie Foxx, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade and Usher.

With over 40,000 attendees expected, her presence underscores the administration’s commitment to highlighting homegrown talent and celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of the nation, according to a press release.

The White House Easter Egg Roll is a tradition dating back to 1878.

A teacher for more than 30 years, first lady Jill Biden is continuing her theme of “EGGucation” for the event, transforming the grounds into a school community, full of fun educational activities for children of all ages.

In addition to the traditions of rolling and hunting eggs, this year’s White House Easter” Roll will also feature the School House Activity Area, reading nook, field trip to the farm, picture day, a Physical “EGGucation” Zone, a snack time tent and more.

The South Façade of the White House will be adorned with balloons, marked with STEAM school subjects, a nod to Dr. Biden’s belief that with EGGucation, “all students can soar,” officials said in a White House press release.

The Phillie Phanatic; Poe, the mascot of the Baltimore Ravens; and Slapshot, the mascot of the Washington Capitals are among the characters expected to appear.

This year’s event will be broken into nine sessions, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m.
